Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators were arrested at various universities in the USA in the last 24 hours, BNR reported.
The largest number of protesters - about 300 - were detained during police actions at Columbia University, as well as at the City College of New York, security officials said.
At the University of Wisconsin – At least 12 protesters were detained in Madison when a tent camp was dispersed. The situation is also serious at the University of California in Los Angeles, where during clashes between pro-Palestinian protesters and supporters of Israel, 15 people were injured and one was hospitalized, the educational institution announced.
The university canceled all classes on Wednesday and police deployed on campus to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. Students were also arrested at the prestigious private Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where law enforcement detained 25 people during an anti-Israel protest.
There is also tension at the prestigious Yale University, where hundreds of anti-Israel protesters gathered in front of the rector's home, which had to be secured by the police.
Although the demands of the protesters differed at each university, the majority of demonstrators called for the separation of educational institutions from companies that support Israel and the war on Gaza.
